911TESDA opens up 11000 job opportunities for NC holders

July 31, 2019

TAGUIG CITY— Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Secretary Isidro “Sid” Lapeña and President Rodrigo Duterte officially launched the 911TESDA Program yesterday at the TESDA Covered Court in TESDA Complex, opening more than 11,000 employment prospects to TESDA National Certificate (NC) holders.

The 911TESDA website, www.911tesda.ph is now officially open to booking services and additional registration from TESDA NC holders who want to be part of the program.

The partner digital/online service platforms (D/OSPs) projected that for this year alone, the demand for service providers can reach up to 11,425.  D/OSPs are confident that with 911TESDA, the supply for this certified worker demand will be met.

Before the program started, TESDA and these D/OSPs have opened a registration and on-boarding program to assist the NC holders in signing up to the 911TESDA pool and hiring previously-screened registrants.

As of July 26, there are already 2,601 registrants who have successfully verified their NCs in the system. Today, 171 additional NC holders were scouted by Region III, IV-A and National Capital Region (NCR) regional offices to register. While a total of 164 registrants were already confirmed for employment by the D/OSPs.

TESDA, through its National Institute for Technical Education and Skills Development, developed 911TESDA as a free web-based linking program that aims to provide employment opportunities for certified graduates of technical vocational education and training (TVET), and deliver skill-service needs of individuals, households and enterprises.

“We can see that 911TESDA was also developed to create a value-chain for the country’s social, economic, and political development,” said Secretary Lapeña as he envisions the program to help address poverty and criminality in the country and facilitate ease of doing business, in addition to his advocacy—TESDA providing job and/or livelihood after training.

Also in line with the Republic Act No. 11032, TESDA aims to simplify the processes of extending quality TVET services to the Filipino people. The911TESDA program is among the flagship projects launched under Lapeña’s directorship highlighting this directive.

“It is a very good and effective project where everyone has access to get help from the government when needed,” said Secretary Lapeña, explaining how 911TESDA is like the 911 Emergency Hotline that responds to employment emergencies.

TESDA intends to stick to its “Abot Lahat” principle by launching this online program. 911TESDA is “a modern and vibrant way of delivering citizen-focused services of TESDA, matching and linking the TVET certified graduates with prospective employers and persons in need of services,” added Lapeña.

911TESDA services such as aircon cleaning, carpentry, housekeeping, massage therapy, and plumbing available in Metro Manila, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija (Palayan City), Batangas, Rizal, Cavite, and Laguna are brought by partner DOSPs who signed their Memoranda of Agreement with TESDA last July 5.

All of these digital/online service platforms—FindWork Inc., Gawin Inc., Goodwork Solutions Inc., Remedium Inc. (Zennya), Teko Solutions Asia Inc., Urbia Household Errands Services, Mr. Butler Home Services, Helply.ph, and LBP Service Corporation, operate full time in NCR, but FindWork Inc., and LBP Service Corporation have more extensive reach in Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Batangas, Rizal, Cavite, and Laguna and are head-hunters that recruit workers for permanent employment.

After this Metro Manila launching, TESDA aims to connect with more D/OSPs and start-up companies in other areas of the country to increase the coverage of the program. The agency plans to contact several D/OSPs operating in General Santos City, Koronadal City, and Davao City by August.
